Angela Yee has sent fans of The Breakfast Club into a frenzy by declaring that the popular morning show is ending “as you know it.” Yee sent shockwaves through social media Tuesday night with a cryptic tweet in which she hinted at some bad news for fans of the popular radio talk show.
The co-host took to Twitter on Tuesday night (August 9) to share a cryptic message about the popular Power 105.1 breakfast show that she co-hosts with Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy.
“What a feat!” And thank you so much for this honor to everyone who listens to us in the morning and is part of our family!” Yee posted on Instagram at the time.
“All praise and glory to God, and sincere thanks and gratitude to everyone who listens to us on the radio, via podcast, YouTube, or however you consume your breakfast, THANK YOU for being a part of our club,” said Charlamagne.
The Breakfast Club debuted in 2010 and quickly became a New York City staple in Hip Hop radio. The show was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2020, alongside Angie Martinez and Sway Calloway.
“One day people will look back and give us respect for how we impacted the culture over the last decade,” Charlamagne said at the time of their induction. I know it’s difficult to show love when people are still active; I understand. I’m sure the flowers will come when we get a documentary or something, but in the meantime.
In recent years, all three of the show’s hosts have steered their brands in different directions. Charlamagne, in addition to his expanded iHeart deal, also hosts “The God’s Honest Truth” on Comedy Central. DJ Envy is a real estate investor who travels the country giving seminars on his strategies, and Yee hosts “Lip Service,” an Apple Podcasts podcast about sex and relationships.

Do you ever get that deep desire to start a family countdown to Christmas tradition? I think about what I want to do with my future kids come December 1st and have a super special way to usher in Christmas and I think having 25 countdown Christmas books to read is a sweet idea. I can just picture it now…my children cuddled on my lap, fire crackling in the fireplace, tree all lit up in beautiful bright lights and a story filling the heads of my sweet children before being sent off to bed. Yes, I might have a romantic mind.
With this picture in mind, I came across a pin a few years ago that had the idea of wrapping 25 Christmas books and reading one each day. When I saw it, I knew that is what I was envisioning for my future family Christmas tradition. I don’t know how I would like wrapping all the books, but I love the idea of being totally surprised with what book my children picked each day and to see the looks of excitement in their eyes.
My mom’s faith was shaken when she learned as a young child that Santa is not real. She began to question that if Santa wasn’t real than maybe Jesus isn’t real, either. It is due to this and the fact that my dad’s parents never told him that Santa was real that I grew up not believing in Santa. I was told that Santa is just a story about a historic man names St. Nick and has since become the mascot of Christmas.
Because of my upbringing, I would only really want to read Christmas books that kept Jesus as the reason for the season. (Not because I don’t want my children to hear the fun stories of Santa). I went on a hunt to see if such books existed and I’m happy to say that I have found 25 really great books with a basis of the birth of Jesus.

The Jesse Tree – An unlikely relationship is formed when a man tells the story of the lineage of Christ to a young boy.
An Orange for Frankie – Take an unimaginable journey as you learn about a gift of giving and one orange.
One Wintry Night – A lost boy is rescued from grandmotherly woman and is told the story of God’s world.

How Is DFINITY Different From Other Blockchain Projects?

In place of a smart contracts platform, DFINITY offers ‘The Internet Computer’ or what has been tagged “world computer” in some circles. The difference here is that DFINITY’s offering comes with enhanced capabilities for executing applications, exchange and other data processing instructions by drawing from a decentralized network of smaller computers instead of a centralized backbone network.

This is a leap from existing models, like Ethereum for instance, where actions are executed one after the other, invariably leading to waste of time.
DFINITY uses the Web Assembly (WASM) browser model instead of the Domain-Specific Languages adopted by Ethereum. Web Assembly is the new standard for developers because it’s the product of synergy by major players such Google, Mozilla, Apple and Microsoft, whose browsers are built to execute bytecodes. This makes them perform faster and have better utility value unlike Domain-Specific Languages.
DFINITY opts for Proof of Stake instead of Proof of Work because POS is faster, consumes less power, and requires less tech-savviness to understand.
Instead of Variable-sized Deposits as is obtainable in Ethereum, DFINITY runs on the principle of Fixed-sized Deposits when buying mining power. The idea is to ensure the integrity of the ecosystem by discouraging bad players who can get into the system via Variable-sized deposits.
DFINITY favours security over liveness. This is a direct contrast to Ethereum’s model for example, which favors liveness over security. Security over liveness simply means that DFINITY prioritises the need to keep the system away from the control of single individuals as well as fraudulent people, because it’s POS protocol only allows notarisation of blocks by single groups made up of 50 different miners. The reverse is the case for many existing models, including Ethereum’s, where the idea is to keep activity at a height which makes it difficult to sift bad eggs from the system.
DFINITY is also refreshingly different when it comes to comparing its time finality with those of other projects. The fact that test cases and pre-public use instances attest to a consistent closing time of under 5 seconds speaks volume of DFINITY’s readiness to lead in a market where major crypto competitors like Ethereum and Bitcoin still close in over 300 and 3,600 seconds respectively.
Could DFINITY Be Wrong?
DFINITY has already attracted funding to a whooping tune of $195 million dollars without a conventional ICO. Plus, all the stats are impressive and compelling on every front, making DFINITY very attractive but too good to be true at the same time.
Although it’s team lead, Dominic Williams has said that the project’s penetration plan may have to do with getting all the smaller fish in its marketplace in first since most of the big fish won’t jump ship at the early stages, it will have to do more than scaling its own organization to get them in.
Secondly, as good as the project’s value proposition sounds, DFINITY is still largely untested by a large consumer base on the promise of speed, security and scalability. At best, we are only talking installed capacity.
Thirdly, DFINITY is clearly on a competitive war path on many fronts. While its services will greatly improve the blockchain ecosystem, many service providers will definitely put up a fight to retain their market share. In the same vein, its desire to unchain the blockchain and offer full dividends of decentralization to the global market pits it against heavyweights like AWS and Google Cloud and Apple.
Final Word: Is DFINITY the Real Deal?
Clearly, DFINITY is a bold attempt at offering a greater value of blockchain technology to the global population. The vision of a one world internet computer syncs well with globalization themes. The quality of the team behind it as well as the level of privately generated funding within a very short time is very impressive. But, as with all tech startups, however, there will always be room for improvement.
